Furnishing Great Starts
The day has come and you’re moving out of the shelter and into your apartment! Then you look around and realize that you need EVERYTHING - furniture, mattresses, bedding, kitchen essentials, bathroom essentials. It can be overwhelming for a family. To help ease the transition from the shelter to a more permanent living space, Families for Families reaches out to the head of household and understands their family’s unique needs. We then solicit donations, pick them up and deliver them directly to the family. From refrigerators and couches to cups and silverware, no request is too big or too small to be considered. A virtuous cycle is created as families who are looking to reclaim space in their houses feel good that their items will continue to be useful and not end up in a landfill and the recipient families are relieved of the significant financial burden of outfitting an apartment from scratch.
